The League of Women Voters has encouraged informed and active citizen participation in government for over 100 years. We'd love to have you join us in our work.

Become a Member and Volunteer

The League offers many opportunities to support its mission to encourage informed and active participation in government. Volunteers work to uplift our democracy through increased civic engagement. Become a member and volunteer to:

Organize candidate forums
Organize educational forums
Research and draft educational material about ballot measures
Participate with our Communications group to publicize information about League's activities and efforts
Register voters and help get out the vote with our Voter Services Team
Observe at King County Elections
Promote civics learning and engagement
Serve on our Board

Serve on a Committee or Join a Team

If you have an active interest in a particular issue, you might decide to volunteer on a committee. It's a great opportunity to meet and talk to community leaders, stakeholder organizations, and experts where you can have a direct impact on local issues that affect you. Our current committees and teams include:

Join a Unit

Units are small groups of League members who meet to discuss the current issues and activities. Units help organize and connect members to League outreach. They are a wonderful place to build lifelong friendships. Meetings are open to all members and their guests, and members attend the unit meeting(s) that best fits their schedule - proximity to the location is not essential.

Attend a Forum

Forums are free, open to the public and serve to educate members of the community at large about specific issues the League is suited to address. Find more information about our forums here and visit our event calendar to see what's happening this month!

Speak Up!

The LWV of New Jersey has shared training on how to write an effective letter to the editor. You already know that letters to the editor can shift public debate, exert pressure on public officials, and shape future media coverage – now you can learn how to write to have the greatest impact.
