2022, November General Election

The LWVSKC takes an active role in evaluating local ballot issues, especially those that, if passed, would increase voter turnout and/or move us toward election of government officials more representative of a diverse community. This year, the LWVSKC has endorsed two such local ballot issues on the November 2022 ballot. Both involve changes to our current voting system.

The LWVSKC takes the following positions:

1) For King County: Yes on Charter Amendment 1, commonly known as even year elections. This measure moves the election for King County Executive, Assessor, Elections Director, and Council positions from odd-numbered to even-numbered years.

2) For City of Seattle: Vote yes to changing the current voting system in City of Seattle municipal primary elections election. Then Yes on Proposition 1B: Ranked-choice voting

2021, August Primary Election

The League of Women Voters of Seattle-King County urges a YES vote for King County’s Proposition 1, the renewal of the Best Starts for Kids levy.

“The League of Women Voters supports the renewed funding for children, youth, families, and their communities, and we encourage voters to do the same. We are also calling for improvements in transparency and oversight of funds to better align taxpayer dollars with measurable outcomes,” said League President Heather Kelly.
