What gifts qualify for an IRA charitable rollover?

• You must be age 70 ½ or older when you make your gift.
• Your gift must come from a traditional IRA or Roth IRA account (401 (k), 403 (b), SEP IRA accounts, and other retirement accounts do not qualify.)
• Your gift must come directly from your IRA administrator to LWV of Seattle King County.
• Your total IRA charitable rollover gifts in any one year cannot exceed $100,000.
• Your IRA rollover gift can count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) if you have not already taken your RMD for the year you make your gift.
• The gift from your IRA will not be available as an income tax charitable deduction;
• The gift from your IRA will be excluded from income.

Many companies offer matching gift programs that will double (even triple!) the impact of your donation. Some companies also provide matching funds or grants to support employee volunteer hours. Please check the list below or ask your Human Resources department for details on your company’s matching programs.

You'll be asked if your, or your spouse's, employer matches on the donation form. Please select "Yes" so we know you plan to match this gift.

Contact your company's Human Resources department and ask for the matching gift verification form or a link to their online submission process. Whether you submit online or by paper, you’ll be asked for the fund name and tax id number.
